“Get her out of here! Now!” Gramps commanded. They didn’t hesitate and pulled my arms the opposite direction and my feet followed as I ran with them. I looked back just as we were about to turn the corner and saw Borin stand tall and push Larry back with his heavy arms. Gramps fell to the ground.
A wave flooded through me. A wave of intense violence.
“NO!” I screamed and quickly turned back, seizing my arms away from their grasps, heading back to help Gramps. I could hear Reed and Kent’s footsteps run back after me. But I didn’t care. I was not about to leave him. He was rubbing his head as Borin stood over him, about to place a hand on him.
“Don’t you touch him!” The voice that came out of my mouth was unrecognizable. I ran to him, holding out my arms to shove him away.
My body felt unfamiliar. My feet lightweight. My arms tingled as I felt a sensation rise to my shoulders, down my forearms, and out my fingertips.
Before I could even touch Borin, he flew away from Gramps’ side and slammed into a garbage receptacle a few feet away, causing a dent with his body.

“I’m sure she can handle herself.” Jovian tugged again at my arm, pulling me away from Reed’s body, but his grip staying strong.
“Uh, you guys–” I cleared my throat.
“I’m sure she can too.” Reed cut me off. They were in their own world. Their world where they were about to maul each other in front of my eyes.
“Hey! You guys need to get some food!” The tornado feel of our swirling energies started to dissipate as Dennis stepped into our circle, one hand on each of their shoulders. Their death gazes were still locked onto each other. Reed’s piercing blue eyes were waves of rage, while Jovian’s golden eyes were shining with nothing but heated ire.
I snatched my arm from Jovian’s grasp and moved my waist away from Reed’s. “Yes, Dennis, I am starving!”
“All right, come on, guys!” Dennis stepped into my place, moving me out of the way, and got in between Jovian and Reed, squeezing them tightly with his arms wrapped around their shoulders.

“We are not your enemies!” I yelled as the others came and circled around me, their bodies crouched, ready to fight anyone who came near. The humans left their guns in the air and all pulled out knives or daggers from their pockets, ready to kill us through hand-to-hand combat.
“Es, this isn’t fair, we can kill them easily, what do we do?” Dennis whispered from in front of me. With a motion of my hand, I turned the hovering guns and pointed them back at their owners. The humans’ hands lifted in surrender.
“If we were your enemies, I could kill you right now!” I took another breath. They had so much fear, yet so much strength in their eyes. I softened my voice to say, “Is this what you want?”
No one answered. An arrow came flying through the protective circle around me and near my head, but my eyes stopped it in its place, then broke it in half, dropping to the floor.
“That doesn’t mean shit! You’re an alien and we want you gone!” a deep voice yelled, one that I knew all too well. Dennis stood up straight from his crouched posture; he knew too, along with Reed. I threw the guns onto the ground, distracted, as I moved out of the circle they made and stepped forward.
I scanned the shadows, but didn’t see anything. But I could feel him. Those green eyes were planted on me. “Show your face, Kent!”
