Excerpt
#1:

Looping my
fingers into his belt, I jerked his hips to mine. Rohan’s breath caught and
when I brushed my lips over the shell curves of his ear, his whole body went
tense. “Prove you’re worth it, baby.” Then I pushed him away, stalking off
without a look back, mostly sure that he followed.
The second we
got inside the empty elevator, Rohan shoved me up against the wall. I groped
for the third floor button, leaning into him. He ran his hands feverishly over
my body, hot tingles shivering through my breasts like a sexed-up call and
answer. The focused hunger in his expression had me craving more, except my
rapid breathing wasn’t all from arousal.
Given the barely
banked rage evident in the tense bunch of Rohan’s shoulders, the feeling was
mutual. Hopefully, he’d show no mercy in orgasm form and not body count, though
I couldn’t promise the same right now.
I bit his
earlobe, wanting to hurt him.
Rohan shot me a
cavalier smile in response. Holy crap. My knees buckled.
The sprint to my
room was a blur.
The second the
door slammed shut behind us, Rohan edged his face in close to mine, his palm
ghosting my cheek in the barest caress that sent slivery shimmers tumbling
through me.
I raised my
fingers to my mouth, not realizing what I’d done or that I ran them over my
lips until Rohan tracked the movement, his eyes glittering dangerously.
His tongue
flicked out, wetting his lower lip. He swayed in toward me and–

“No.” Taking his
hands in mine, I forced them behind me. Forced him to hold me there, his rings
biting into my skin. Forced him to make a decision; play by my rules or go.

I could remember vaguely I had just fought against the muscular man, my body laying on the cold concrete in the fetal position as I nursed my aching head. Usually a good thump or, as I had experienced this time, a smash against the corner of the table, was enough to take me down. So I lay there, my frayed hair collecting the pooling blood from my wound when a loud and foreign noise reached my ringing ears.

It was an alarm, and it frightened me.

Both hands instantly went to my ears as I tried to block out the klaxon, my feet kicking against the legs of my table where I had slept. All I remember is fighting against the sound.

The door opened then, and I was vaguely aware of someone coming in, the door closing quickly. I was still keening and fought to regain some control.

Then the hands came down on my shoulders. A terrifying noise ripped from my throat as I again went into survival mode. Jumping up, I reached out my bloodied digits, aiming for the neck of my next contender before hearing a name spoken aloud.

Both the name and voice were familiar to me and I froze as the man said it again. I shook my head to clear the liquid that was now running over my eye, my own blood from my head wound. I gritted my teeth and grabbed the man around his wrists, forcing him against a wall and knowing I could snap the bones and kick in his knee in one swift move.

The man didn’t fight back.

Instead, he opened his eyes wide and attempted to talk to me, something that was still outside of my understanding. It reached me enough that I was forced to look into his face.

Tomlin. The name reached my lips and brain at the same moment and instantly I knew this person was not after me.

Fighting my primal nature, I flung myself backwards across the room, flattening against the wall and watching the man who in turn was staring back at me, alarmed. He rubbed his wrists absentmindedly, a ring of blood transferred from my hands to his sleeves.

I could tell he was scared for me. I could smell the fear. His own personal defeat was palpable as he tried to reason with me.

Looking back now I am sure he was asking me to calm down, to leave with him peaceably. He held up a sedative that would perhaps make it easier.

I saw him hold up the needle and I went crazy. Tomlin’s eyes flashed disbelief as I hurled myself toward him, my hand raised in combat. I landed four good punches to his face and head before the man threw a strong kick to my midsection that sent me stumbling back, crashing against the wall.

He looked down as his wrist watch chimed. I knew his time was up as he shook his head. With a sad expression, he wiped the blood from his mouth, a heavy line still trailing from his nose, looking back at me one last time before he re-opened the door, leaving quickly.

It would be days before I realized what had happened.

I had sabotaged my own rescue.

I pulled away, knowing if I didn’t we would end up in a compromising situation. On the other hand, pulling the woman back into the pitch black hall and making love to her until she cried out my name did have a certain appeal. I shook my head as I dismissed the idea, watching Seleah’s face flush. I had forgotten that she, like StPatrick, possessed the talent of reading ones intentions. It was much more revealing than most people knew.

She inclined her head, “Another time?” I nodded and closed the panel, watching her from the darkness. Her words held a promise that I hoped was true. Now that I had regained a taste of her, my Seleah was like a drug, coursing through my veins, a disease, ravaging my every thought and making my body tingle.

That my mind only came up with negative comparisons I was well aware. I just couldn’t be sure yet if that was a good thing or not.

A man who knows everything…

For nearly a decade, Drake Ramsey, the disciplined and logical Earl of
Saint Brides, has been the driving force behind the Home Office;
meeting with foreign leaders to negotiate treaties, spurring a
lethargic Parliament into action, and directing a secret army of
spies. The last thing he wants to find while taking a well-deserved
vacation is a dangerous fugitive. Nevertheless, when he catches a
beautiful murderess hiding in his hunting cabin, he has little choice
but to bring her to justice, landing himself in a battle for control
he could never hope to win.
meets a woman determined to prove him wrong.
Marrying a stranger simply to gain access to her dowry and travel the world,
admittedly, was the biggest mistake of Sarah Tindall’s life. In
fact, she would readily admit to making several big mistakes. Killing
her husband, however, is not one of them. When a starchy lord takes
it upon himself to bring her to a London prison, she is determined to
escape him and prove her innocence, yet every attempt ends with her
back in her handsome captor’s arms. Even if her innocence is
proven, his forbidden and passionate kisses leave her uncertain if
escape was ever an option.

It was late when I entered my apartment. I sank down on the couch and stared out into the city. I lived in a high rise in downtown L.A., it offered a good view and it was near the club, I also owned the building. I had a few investments, mostly in stocks, so I did well for myself. I didn’t really have any family or anyone I truly cared about, except for Wolf and most recently, Scarlett. I used to do security for the military, and after retiring, Wolf gave me a place to stay and opened his doors for me. I was glad to have someone like Wolf. He’d been a good friend throughout the years. When he took over as President, he immediately named me VP, and it’s been that way for the last five years. The brotherhood was my refuge and although we didn’t voice it, we were a pretty tight knit family.

I stood up and went to grab a beer. I headed down the hall to my bedroom, where an empty bed awaited me. Usually it didn’t bother me, but lately I’d been yearning for a warm body to press up against. Specifically, a voluptuous blonde, with eyes the color of emeralds. My cock stirred and I sighed as I took a swig of my beer and sat at the edge of the bed.

Images of Rahyne spread out on my mattress kept flooding through my mind and they had been non-stop lately. It didn’t matter where I was or who I was with, I couldn’t get the temptress out of my head. It was starting to worry me.

I never even thought of settling down. I lived my life peacefully, went where I wanted, fucked who I wanted, and didn’t give a shit about anything. But with Rahyne…fuck, I thought my urgency to have her was just an infatuation-something that would go away in a matter of weeks. Six months later, and my body still craved hers, more now than ever before. Running my hands through my hair I fought my desire to go looking for her and I gulped down my beer.

Lying back on the bed I let her image envelop me and I pulled out my shaft-hard as a rock as usual-and stroked myself, remembering the sound of her sweet whispers, and the moans and whimpers I heard on an almost daily basis. I groaned, imagining the wonderful feeling of her tight pussy hugging my swollen member. Remembering the way she shouted my name, and how her body gripped me, made me jerk off harder. Knowing I could manipulate her body to such extremes had me grunting my release as streams of white fluid leapt out and landed on my stomach. I breathed out and splayed my arms on the mattress. Closing my eyes, I imagined her by my side, and the only thought that came to my mind, before I drifted off, was that I was going to make her mine.

Scarlett Chase is every man’s wet dream.

Ever since he pulled over on that empty road, I’ve been tormented by the man.

One touch, and he lights me on fire.

“Wolf.” I breathed, dragging my hands along his tussled hair.

I felt the hot slickness of his tongue lick me from the base of my shoulder up along the curve of my neck. He stopped briefly before nipping my earlobe and I nearly came, right then and there.

“You taste so goddamn good.” He whispered.

I gripped his hair and whimpered. “Don’t stop, Wolf. Please, don’t stop.”

My words seemed to snap him out of his trance and he stepped away from me. I glided down the wall and a feeling of emptiness surrounded me as he moved away.

My hands reached for him, but he turned away. I could tell his breathing was labored, and he was just as, or even more affected by this, than I was. I reached out and touched his back and I suddenly found myself pressed once more against the wall. My body arched like a cat in heat, trying to bring every inch of him against me. The movement was futile as he gripped me by the shoulders and half shook me awake from my lust filled moment.

“Stop it. Stop, Scarlett. I won’t be able to do this if you don’t stop.” He pressed his forehead against mine and ran his hands down my arms, gripping my hips. His mouth said one thing, but his hands wouldn’t stop touching me. “Stop. Please.”

My body stilled at his request, but it remained thrumming alongside his.

“Don’t stop, Wolf. Please. Please, don’t do this.”

He dragged his rough jaw against my cheek and breathed in. “I can’t. I just can’t.” He squeezed his eyes shut, almost as if it hurt. He waited a few minutes, hid body vibrated against mine, and his hands continued to hold me. “I won’t have you wandering down here. You need to leave.”

“What?” I whispered.

He gripped my waist tightly. “I want you to leave, Scarlett. You don’t belong here!”

I rubbed my hands across the muscles of his chest and his breath hitched. “I don’t want to leave. I want to stay here. With you.”

He growled and leaned his body into mine. “Me too, gorgeous. Oh God, me too.”

My name is Crimson Syn, not really, but what fun is it to use my real
name. Instead I’ll use my inner goddess’ name, it’s much
more fun that way. I grew up in New York City where I had a wonderful
education, loving parents and awesome friends. What more could a girl
ask for?
I started writing at the age of
sixteen. The first romance I read was Stephanie Laurens’ Devil’s
Bride. Since then I have been influenced by dozens of flourishing
romance authors and even more dashing and daring rogues. I must say
it, but Fifty Shades was not my first erotic romance, nor did it
influence me to start writing them. If you’ve never read Mary
Balogh, Elizabeth Hoyt, Lisa Kleypas, Bertrice Small or A.N.
Roquelaure’s Sleeping Beauty trilogy, then you’re missing out.
Those were my sweet introductions to erotic romance, and boy were
they hot.
So here I am, after reading so many wonderful stories, I have too many
sinful tales of my own not to share. I like my alphas rough and
possessive, and I have no shame in saying it or writing it. I had
delightfully wicked teachers growing up, their books took me to new
worlds and brought me new loves. So, I want to do the same for you. I
want to indulge my readers in those steamy reads that will send them
into the arms of dangerous alphas and deliciously sexy rogues,
without leaving the confines of their nice warm bed. If I am able to
entice your inner goddesses, then I have done my job and I am
satisfied.

The Most Dangerous Duke in London
by Madeline Hunter
Genre: Historical Romance
 **
NOTORIOUS NOBLEMAN SEEKS REVENGE
Name and title: Adam Penrose, Duke of Stratton. Affiliation: London’s
elite Society of Decadent Dukes. Family history: Scandalous.
Personality traits: Dark and brooding, with a thirst for revenge.
Ideal romantic partner: A woman of means, with beauty and brains,
willing to live with reckless abandon. Desire: Clara Cheswick,
gorgeous daughter of his family’s sworn enemy.
FAINT OF HEART NEED NOT APPLY
Clara may be the woman Adam wants, but there’s one problem: she’s far
more interested in publishing her women’s journal than getting
married—especially to a man said to be dead-set on vengeance.
Though, with her nose for a story, Clara wonders if his desire for
justice is sincere—along with his incredibly unnerving intention to
be her husband. If her weak-kneed response to his kiss is any
indication, falling for Adam clearly comes with a cost. But who knew
courting danger could be such exhilarating fun?

The Duke of Stratton was becoming a serious inconvenience. Part of the joy of being an older woman known to be uninterested in marriage was that people tended not to notice what she did. Clara had enjoyed that freedom even before her father’s death and now did so even more because she occupied Gifford House alone.

Stratton’s curiosity about her complicated that. Now here she was, sitting in his carriage when she should have been visiting the decorator she had hired to make some changes at her house on Bedford Square. Since no one knew about the house, she could hardly have the duke trailing her there.

She did not care for how he maneuvered her into spending this time with him. She resented that he had won a little contest.

“Do you prefer town? You spend a good deal of time here,” he said once they were seated across from each other and the coachman had opened the carriage to the air.

From anyone else she would think it small talk. From this man, she heard an intrusive question. “I like both town and the country. I spend time in both places. However, after all the months at Hickory Grange after my father’s funeral, it was time to see some friends here and dip one foot into society again.” Even as she said it, she worried that she gave him too much information.

“Your bluestocking friends?”

“Yes.”

“What do you do when you are not talking letters with them?”

“If I told you, I would no longer be intriguing and mysterious.”

It was a mistake to say that. She knew it as soon she said it. His dark eyes settled on her, amused and too confident that he saw more than she wanted. That gaze unsettled her. She found it stark, almost naked, in its demand for her attention. It implied intimacies of the spirit that she did not

want to have or acknowledge.

She hurried to brush her own provocation aside. “You will find my interests very boring and feminine. I visit drapers and feast my eyes on the fabrics I cannot wear now. I stroll through warehouses and covet silk cords and laces.”

“Why not buy them now and store them until you can use them?”

“Because the anticipation is part of the fun. There is the danger it will build to a fever, however, and when I finally remove these black ensembles, I will be so reckless in my spending on a new wardrobe that Theo will have to bail me out of debt.”

“Oh, I doubt that.”

She knew then that this man had learned about the size of her inheritance. Had Theo told him? Perhaps he had only heard gossip, but that would be enough.

It entered her mind that his only reason to pursue her with that stupid proposal was her fortune. As if the Duke of Stratton needed that! Although, really, who knew if he did or did not? She had not investigated him the way he had obviously investigated her, although she intended to.

Still, a man after her fortune. How predictable. How commonplace. How disappointing.

Once they were in the park she asked her own questions, while she encouraged their stroll to leave the main path so they might not be seen together.

“Would you truly not mind if the woman you proposed to had a lover before you? You keep implying as much.” She thought it a sophisticated and arch query and waited for him to avoid the meal once she set it squarely on a plate in front of him.

“You are what, twenty-four years in age? Only a fool would require innocence of a woman of that maturity.”

“What a liberal outlook you have.”

“I like to think so. I am only being a bit strict with you because I cannot risk my heir being the son of another man. I am sure you understand.”

She looked over at him, hoping to see that little smile or anything that indicated his continued references to his proposal were now a private joke. Regrettably, he appeared most serious. She decided that objecting would only dignify the ridiculous notion, so she ignored it.

Since he had coerced her into spending this time with          him, he could not object to some frank questions about his life and his family, especially if he really believed they would marry. Althea was charged with investigating this man, but every bit added to the pile would help.

“Why did you leave?” she asked while they strolled through a little copse of budding trees.

“It was time to come back.”

“I did not mean why did you leave France. Why did you leave England?”

His mood altered in a snap, as if the question opened a door to the dark humor she sensed in him. “My mother did not want to remain here after my father’s death, so I took her away and ensured she was settled in Paris.”

“She wanted to go home, you mean. That is understandable.”

“She had lived here for decades. This should have been her home, not a foreign land to escape. There were those who never welcomed her, however, or allowed her to make

her place here.”

“If she is happy in France now, that is what matters, isn’t it?”

“I did not say she was happy. She did not want to return to France. She just did not want to remain here.

His sharp tone made her stop walking. “I am sorry if I misunderstood. I was careless in my response. Of course she could not be happy to leave her home of so many years.” She swallowed the question that begged to be asked. Why did she not want to remain here?

They stood under one of the trees, in the tangle of linear shadows its branches made.

“Do you really know so little about my life?” he asked. “Did you never hear the talk about my mother? You were out before she left. Before my father died.”

She did not have to search her memory long to remember some of the talk she had heard. Her grandmother’s voice always dripped with disdain when she mentioned Stratton’s French duchess. Grandmother was one of the people who suspected the worst of everything and everyone French during the war.

Others had sniffed when the Duchess of Stratton walked by at a ball, however. Clara had always assumed they envied her beauty and sought bad gossip out of spite. In truth she had not much cared what people said, however. The old war between her family and Stratton’s had left her unsympathetic to whatever slights were visited on his mother.

“I will admit, now that you speak of it, that I do know something of what she endured,” she admitted. “If that drove her away, it was not fair.”

To her surprise he took her hand and raised it to a kiss. “That alone did not do it. However, it is good of you to see how unfair it was.”

That kiss on her hand, brief though it was, created a bridge of intimacy. She felt that kiss all the way up her arm and down her body. His gaze captured hers before he kissed her hand yet again, slowly.

She did not pull her hand away. She did not avert her eyes, as she most definitely should. Instead she stared while that kiss and those dark eyes enlivened her whole body.

He drew her closer, closer, until she either had to step toward him or fall. She did a bit of both, stumbling awkwardly, and found herself in his arms.

He was going to kiss her. She was sure of it. That must not happen. Instead of pushing away, however, she could not move. His gaze paralyzed her and incited an unseemly excitement.

His arms embraced her. He looked down. Dazed, she closed her eyes and waited.

And waited.

And waited.

When nothing happened, she opened her eyes. Instantly the euphoria lifted, and she felt a fool. She tried to extricate herself from his embrace, but he did not allow it.

“Do you want me to kiss you?” he asked.

“Of course not. You are the last man I want kissing me, I assure you.” She refused to look at him and continued trying to pull away.

“That is not true. Let us be honest with each other in this if nothing else.” His head dipped and his lips hovered over hers.

Her breath caught. Heavens, but he was beautiful. And exciting. Even that darkness seduced. Thrills kept spiraling through her, begging to have excuses to become something more powerful.

“Part of the fun is the anticipation,” he said quietly, imprisoning her with his gaze. “Although there is always the danger of it building to a fever.” His lips brushed hers, ever so faintly, but enough to create a starburst of sensation.

It was a terrible tease. A provocative promise.

Middle school teacher by day, romance

Richalet leads a fairly uneventful life—until she receives a long

determined to learn what became of the couple . . .
Flavie’s inquiries lead her to a

Amélie after all these years is good for his uncle. At odds with the
tall, dark, and impossibly passionate Romaric, Flavie must show him,

Prologue

Karouac, Brittany

September 4, 1975

It was the most important day of her life.

She’d been waiting and preparing for this day for weeks, and she

should have been deliriously happy. She should have been lighthearted

and smiling.

But instead, she felt strange and uncomfortable. As though she was

forgetting something important. As though she was about to make a

mistake.

It’s just apprehension, she told herself. The usual jitters all women

feel before they commit for life.

But did all women think of their first love on their wedding day?

Amélie closed her eyes, and Erwan’s beautiful face appeared in

her mind. She pictured his irresistible smile, his gray-blue gaze, his

unruly hair, always too wild to lie flat. She felt his rough hands on

her skin, his lips on hers, as though it were only yesterday that they

had lain together on the beach.

She shook her head, willing herself to dismiss the memory. It was

foolish to think of him, especially right before her wedding. It had

been so long ago . . . four years, almost to the day. He’d obviously

forgotten her, moved on with his life. He’d never written to her,

never phoned her, never gotten in touch with her. She’d waited

weeks, months even, for him to reach out to her, before she’d accepted

the truth. It had only been a summer fling. So she’d grieved,

but then looked to the future. She’d thrown herself into her studies in

fashion-design school to forget. Forget all about him.

And now she was finally happy. She’d finished school and gotten

the job of her dreams with a small fashion company that appreciated

her style and her slightly extravagant ideas. It was almost more than

she’d ever expected. Moreover, she was about to marry a wonderful

man, one who loved her more than anyone and whom she loved very

much. She knew they’d have a great life together.

So why? Why was she thinking of the past, of a painful, bestforgotten

period of her life, on the day she was going to marry Paul,

for better or for worse?

She took a deep breath, trying to calm her heart, her nerves, her

mind. She patted her veil, smoothed a few nonexistent creases in her

satin and lace wedding dress. She’d designed it herself, and it was

stunning, even if she said so herself. It was the dress of her dreams.

Again, Erwan appeared in her mind’s eye.

“For God’s sake!” she swore, cutting herself off immediately.

Someone knocked on the door and her mother peered in. “Are

you ready, sweetheart?” Viviane Lacombe asked, beaming.

Amélie cast a last glance into the mirror, took a deep breath, and

nodded. “I am.”

It was no longer time to wonder about the past.

So, she left her home, the home where she grew up, and, lifting

the hem of her dress in one hand, her father at her side, her mother in

front of her, beaming much more than her daughter was, Amélie

slowly walked the short distance to the beautiful church of Karouac,

where her parents had been married. Paul was waiting for her there.

Her family was waiting for her. The minister, and all their friends,

were gathered here today to celebrate her wedding to the love of her

life. She couldn’t wait to go in and marry Paul, the man who had always

been there for her. Who loved her more than anything else. She

couldn’t wait to start her life. The life she had chosen for herself.

Yet before she walked into the church, she couldn’t help stopping

to gaze around, searching for a face, a smile. She shook her head and

cursed the damn memories trying to spoil the happiest day of her life.

She turned back and smiled at her father, took hold of his proffered

arm, and waited for her cue.

Hidden in the shade of a porch, unseen, Erwan watched as the

love of his life walked into the church on her father’s arm to marry

another man.

He’d been too late, and he’d lost her once again—forever.

2 • Chloé Duval

He tamped down the urge to enter the church and beg Amélie, on

his knees if need be, to come with him, repeating what he’d written

in that unanswered letter four years ago, and walked away, his heart

breaking, leaving Karouac behind him.

Once again, and forever.
